8/7/2023 0 Comments Kiss mtv unplugged vinyl![]() ![]() Totally awesome!! The crowd went nuts and so did I. The crowd was treated to songs by both Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. And for the “Big” part, the band would bring out two very special guest. The band, which consisted of Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Eric Singer and Bruce Kulick at the time, would come out and do a full acoustic set. In typical Kiss fashion, they had to do it big and let me tell you, they did. Well, around that time MTV came a calling and asked if they wanted to do an episode of MTV Unplugged and the band agreed. Kiss started to play lesser known songs at the audience requests and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. They would even get some special guests to join them and one time Peter Criss showed up and jumped on stage with them. Kiss would go play these and they were all done as acoustic performances. In 1995, the band set out and did these Convention Tours as around this time, Kiss Konventions had started popping up. And with this review, still no studio album. They have been putting out product as we have reviewed it, but yet no studio album. It had been several years since ‘Revenge’. But enough of that garbage, let us get back to the Kisstory. But it was recorded for MTV so didn’t know the right way to label this post. I stuck with ‘Unplugged’ as that is what it says on the spine of the vinyl cover. Iron Maiden’s Gonna Grab A Stack of Rock, No Matter How Far! Tonight at 8:00 PM E.S.T.Welcome back to Kiss Review Series and this time around we will discuss the album ‘Unplugged’ or is it ‘MTV Unplugged’, I wasn’t really sure.Books & Harrison bring the collections, with special appearance by Jex! Last but not least, Bruce and Eric returned to the stage to form a formidable 6-man Kiss lineup. Out they came to do two of their signature songs: “Beth” for Peter, and the Stones’ “2000 Man” for Ace. From Paul’s stirring vocal on “I Still Love You” to the classic “Rock Bottom”, this is awesome all the way through.īut of course, they saved Ace and Peter for the end. This is a great Kiss album that almost anyone can enjoy. ![]() I don’t understand why this wasn’t a massive smash hit across the board. I raved about the album then, and I still rave about it now. You can’t complain at all about the tracklist on MTV Unplugged. They even tackled “See You Tonite” from Gene’s solo album, and “Every Time I Look At You” (with strings) from Revenge: both firsts. The evening began with the current Kiss, rolling out rarely played classics like “Comin’ Home”, “Got To Choose” (on the Japanese release, anyway) and “A World Without Hereos”. They were greeted with disbelief and joy. What the audience that night didn’t know is that after a full set by Paul, Gene, Bruce and Eric, two “members of the family” would come out: Peter Criss and Ace Frehley. See below for a cool bootleg CD and tracklist from an Australian show on the tour. “Lover Her All I Can”, “Shandi”, and “Nothin’ To Lose” with Eric Singer on lead vocals were all rolled out. The Konvention tour yielded some great performances, with Kiss taking requests for songs they barely remember and doing their best to play them. In ’95 they decided to go out and do an “official” Kiss Kovention tour, charging a then-insane $100 a pop, but giving you an acoustic performance for your dollars. Kiss had been releasing a lot of product (KISStory the book, a live video and album, and a tribute CD) but not a lot of new music since Revenge. Part 34 of my series of Kiss reviews, leading up to the release of Monster ! ![]()
